What is a Washington continuous contractor surety bond? 

Washington Contractor's Registration Act 18.27.040 requires general contractors file a $12,000 surety bond amount and specialty contractors file a $6,000 surety bond amount when applying for their contractor registration. State form F625-003-000 is officially titled the “Continuous Contractor’s Surety Bond” and specifically requires the licensed contractor comply with RCW Chapter 18.27, which requires them to pay the following:  

  • all wages and benefits to individuals who furnish labor, materials, and/or equipment 
  • all amounts owed as a result of the contractor's breach of contract or other negligent or improper construction work 
  • all taxes/contributions owed to the state of Washington 

Why do I need a Washington contractors bond?  

You need to purchase and file continuous contractor bond form F625-003-000 to comply with state licensing requirements for general contractors or specialty contractors. If you fail to perform your construction work according to state law as outlined on the bond form, your issuing surety bond company will pay valid claims up to your full bond amount, which you must reimburse.
